Everyone loves a freebie, but what would you be prepared to give in order to get something for nothing?
In the world of marketing data is king, we want to know all about the people that use/buy our products and tempt them to do more of it and bring in others just like them.
To get this precious data the best trick is to give something for free, but how much information is too much.
Audience segmentation makes for more accurate campaigns as you can tailor them to tastes and interests.
The perfect CRM system will know my:
Title
First name
Middle name
Surname
Current address
Current postcode
Mobile number
Land line
Email address
Work email address
Year of birth or even better DOB
Job title
Family make up
Marital status
Favourite sports, teams, music, etc.
General interests
Engagement history
Plus probably plenty of other stuff
As a consumer I want to know about products and services relevant to me, but how prepared am I to share my personal information with the corporate world?
We all know how crammed our personal email inboxes are, probably full of junk signed up to over many years, next years General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) deadline might go some way to sorting that out. But do you have any idea who knows what about you, what information you've given up since the internet really exploded into our daily lives? If you're offered a free magazine/video/gift you've probably already told them all they want to know and you didn't really think about it.
WARNING, we work in marketing and we want to know ALL about YOU!
